On the 28th of December we will be welcoming Ife Ongunjobi alongside Mamilah, Pleasure Barge and Monzanto Sound to Off The Cuff for a night of jazz, funk and a whole lot of groove. Before the night, get to know Ife.
Where to start with Ife. A trumpeter extraordinaire, a graduate of Tomorrow’s Warriors making his way up through the UK Jazz scene.
Ife brings together a wide range of influences from Hip-Hop to more traditional Afrobeat & Jazz. Drawing from the likes of Freddie Hubbard & Clifford Brown Ife has an irresistable groove with a south London flair leading the charge of the UK Jazz scene right now.
Along with a well cultivated sound, Ife boasts a huge amount of experience having played alongside the likes of Moses Boyd, the MOBO award winning drummer. Solange Knowles, yes that one. Dele Sosimi and most recently he has been playing with the Ezra Collective gracing stages from Glastonbury to Los Angeles.
This experience has left him as one of the leading young jazz trumpet players in the world but he has only had a small handful of headline shows to this point.
